Israel killed 31 journalists in Gaza, according to the Palestinian Journalists Syndicate (PJS). The PJS said that the Israeli airstrikes and shelling have targeted media offices, equipment and vehicles, as well as individual journalists and their families.

The PJS condemned the Israeli attacks as a “systematic and deliberate policy to silence the voice of truth and prevent the world from seeing the crimes committed against the Palestinian people”. The PJS called on the international community and human rights organizations to intervene and protect the journalists and their right to work.

The Palestinian Journalists Syndicate on Saturday warned of Israeli “massacres” against reporters in the Gaza Strip amid internet and communication blackouts.

However, human rights groups have accused Israel of violating international law and using disproportionate and indiscriminate force against Gaza. They have also criticized Hamas for firing rockets at Israeli civilians and using Gazans as human shields.

More than 8,700 people have been killed in the conflict, including at least 7,326 Palestinians and 1,400 Israelis.
