Sikhs around the world are celebrating the 554th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikhism and the first of the ten Sikh Gurus. The occasion, known as Guru Nanak Jayanti or Gurpurab, falls on the full moon day of the Kartik month in the Nanakshahi calendar, which corresponds to November in the Gregorian calendar.
