A senior Hamas official said on Monday that there is “currently no chance” of negotiating a prisoner exchange with Israel, as the two sides continue to exchange fire in the Gaza Strip.
A member of the Hamas political office group’s priority is to stop the Israeli “massacres” against the civilians in Gaza, where more than 560 people have been killed since the conflict erupted on Saturday.
Therefore, there is currently no chance for negotiation on the issue of prisoners or anything else.
Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh had demanded the release of Palestinian prisoners in a video message on Saturday, but that was not an offer for a swap.
