The Quds Force leader made the pledge following reports that Tehran was seeking to avoid direct involvement in the Gaza conflict
The leader of Iran’s elite Quds Force, Brigadier General Esmail Qaani, has vowed to support Hamas in its fight against Israel, saying that Iran will “do whatever it takes” to help the Palestinian resistance movement.
Qaani made the statement in a phone call with Hamas’ political chief Ismail Haniyeh on Saturday, according to Iran’s state media. He praised Hamas for its “heroic” attacks on Israel and said that Iran stands with the Palestinian people “until the liberation of Jerusalem and the holy al-Aqsa mosque”.
