Israel and Hamas close to reaching ceasefire deal

Israel and Hamas are reportedly close to reaching a ceasefire agreement that would end more than three weeks of fighting in Gaza. According to sources familiar with the negotiations, the talks are “moving quickly” and could result in a deal as early as Friday.

 The talks, which are being mediated by Egypt, Qatar, and the United Nations, have been ongoing since last week when Hamas released two elderly Israeli hostages for humanitarian reasons.
