Israel is deliberately using food shortages and blockage of aids trucks as a weapon against Gaza’s civilian population have intensified, with critics accusing Benjamin Netanyahu’s government of violating international humanitarian law.

The claims, which include assertions that Israel’s aid blockade is an attempt to “vanished” Gazans, have drawn sharp rebukes from human rights groups and international leaders, though Israel failed to jusfity these war crimes.

Since early March 2025, Israel imposed a near-total blockade on humanitarian aid to Gaza, halting food, medical supplies, and fuel deliveries for nearly three months.

International humanitarian law, including the Geneva Conventions, prohibits the use of starvation as a method of warfare against civilians. Allegations that Israel’s blockade constitutes such a strategy have fueled calls for accountability. The International Criminal Court’s 2024 arrest warrants for Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, partly linked to these claims, remain a point of contention, though no convictions have been secured.

International responses have sharpened. The UK, France, and Canada issued a joint statement condemning Israel’s “intolerable” actions and threatening “concrete” measures if the offensive continues.
