Morocco earthquake: Death toll rises to 632 Marrakesh

he country’s interior ministry said a powerful earthquake of magnitude 6.8 has struck central Morocco, killing at least 632 people and injuring 329 others.

 The quake hit just after 11 pm local time (22:00 GMT) on Friday, with its epicenter in the High Atlas Mountains, 71km (44 miles) south-west of Marrakesh, the US Geological Survey (USGS) said.

 The tremors were felt in a large region, causing buildings to collapse and people to flee onto the streets. The worst damage was reported in the old city of Marrakesh, where many traditional buildings made of mud were prone to collapse.

 Several countries, including Spain, Israel, Germany, and France, supported and assisted Morocco after the disaster.
