A Lufthansa flight from Munich to Bangkok was forced to land in Delhi on Wednesday morning after a quarrel between a German man and his Thai wife turned violent, according to sources. The woman reportedly felt threatened by her husband’s behavior and asked the pilot for help.

The flight, LH772, initially requested to land in Pakistan but was denied permission. It then diverted to the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport, where the man was offloaded and handed over to airport security. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said that the man had apologized and that Lufthansa was coordinating with the German embassy regarding the incident.

The Delhi police and the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) were also involved in the matter. It was not clear whether the man would be handed over to Indian authorities or sent back to Germany.

The Lufthansa flight resumed its journey to Bangkok after a delay of about two hours, sources said. The flight had to wait for its tyres to cool off before taking off again.
