Russia has announced that its next presidential election will be held on March 17, 2024, amid widespread speculation that incumbent President Vladimir Putin will seek a sixth term in office.

According to the country’s electoral law, the first round of voting will take place from March 15 to March 17. If no candidate receives more than half of the vote, a second round will be held three weeks later, on April 7.
