At least four civilians, including three children, were killed by an Israeli air strike in southern Lebanon on Sunday, according to Lebanese authorities and media reports. The strike targeted a car near the town of Tyre, where the family was travelling. The victims were identified as Samir Ayoub, a journalist, his sister, her three daughters and their grandmother. The mother of the children survived the attack and was taken to a hospital.
The Lebanese government condemned the Israeli attack as a “flagrant violation” of its sovereignty and a “crime against humanity”. It called for an urgent meeting of the UN Security Council to discuss the situation and demand an immediate halt to the Israeli aggression. It also urged the international community to intervene and protect the Lebanese people from further Israeli attacks.
