Spain has managed to reduce the number of irregular immigrants arriving in its territory, while other European countries have seen significant increases, according to the UNHCR.
Spain’s efforts include a direct injection of funds to Morocco, which is a transit country for many migrants from Africa and the Middle East.
Spain also cooperates with the European Union, which has pledged €140 million to help Morocco contain migration flows.
