In a historic move, Spain’s Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez has announced that his government will work to recognize Palestine as a sovereign state, in line with the aspirations of the majority of the Spanish people and the international community.
Sánchez, who leads a coalition government of the Socialist Party (PSOE) and the left-wing Podemos party, said that he wants to contribute to a peaceful and lasting solution to the Israel-Palestine conflict, based on the two-state formula and the respect for human rights and international law.
