Turkey has decided to recall its ambassador from Israel for consultations over Israel’s ongoing bombing of civilians in the Gaza Strip and the worsening humanitarian situation in the besieged territory, Ankara’s foreign ministry said on Saturday.
The move comes as Turkey’s become increasingly critical of Israel, which has killed about 9,500 Palestinians, including 3,900 children, in the Gaza Strip.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said he was breaking off contact with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, whom he accused of committing war crimes and ignoring calls for a ceasefire.
