The United Nations has marked a somber day as it commemorated the deaths of 101 staff members who were killed in the ongoing conflict in Gaza. The UN Palestinian Refugee Agency (UNRWA) said that this was the deadliest conflict ever for the UN in such a short period of time.
The majority of the victims were employees of UNRWA, which provides humanitarian assistance to more than 1.4 million Palestinians in Gaza. Among them were many teachers, health workers, and social service staff who dedicated their lives to serving their communities.
The UN also called for an immediate ceasefire and humanitarian access to the besieged territory.
