UN Warns Half of Gaza’s Population is Starving

In a dire humanitarian alert, the United Nations has issued a stark warning that nearly half of Gaza’s population is facing acute starvation as a result of the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas. The escalating violence has led to a severe humanitarian crisis, with limited access to essential services, food, and medical assistance.

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) revealed the alarming statistics in a press release, painting a grim picture of the humanitarian situation in Gaza. The organization stated that the protracted conflict has severely hampered the delivery of aid, leaving thousands of families without access to basic necessities.

The situation in Gaza is reaching a critical point. Approximately 1.4 million people, nearly half of the population, are grappling with extreme food insecurity. The destruction of critical infrastructure, including water and sanitation facilities, exacerbates the crisis, posing severe health risks for the civilian population.

The UN has repeatedly called for an immediate ceasefire to allow for the safe delivery of humanitarian aid and to protect the lives of innocent civilians caught in the crossfire.

International organizations and humanitarian agencies are mobilizing efforts to address the urgent needs of the affected population. The World Food Programme (WFP) and other aid organizations are working to provide emergency food assistance, medical aid, and shelter to those affected by the violence.

The UN’s warning comes amid heightened global concern over the deepening crisis in Gaza and the broader Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
