An Islamabad trial court on Saturday ruled that charges against PTI Chairman Imran Khan in the Toshakhana case were “proven” and sentenced the former prime minister to three years in jail. The court also imposed a fine of Rs100,000 on the PTI chief.
The Toshakhana case pertains to the alleged misuse of gifts received by Imran Khan from foreign dignitaries during his tenure as the prime minister from 2018 to 2022.
He was accused of not disclosing the details of the gifts to the Cabinet Division and retaining them instead of depositing them in the Toshakhana, a department that stores such gifts.
He was also accused of selling some of the gifts in the market and using the proceeds for his personal benefit.
